How to make
To make this cookie dough smoothie bowl, you need to start with the cookie dough. If you blend the smoothie first, it will thaw out and be too thin by the time the cookie dough is ready.
To make the cookie dough, you simply need to mix the ingredients in a small bowl. Start with the wet ingredients, then mix in the almond flour and the chocolate chips.
Once the cookie dough is fully mixed, break it up into pieces. Choose whatever size you want the cookie dough bites to be in your smoothie bowl.
Next, place all of the smoothie ingredients in a food processor or high-powered blender. Blend until smooth, slowly adding a bit more milk if needed.
When the smoothie is blended, pour it into a bowl and top it with the cookie dough.
Tips
Make the cookie dough first! You’ll want to make sure that your cookie dough is mixed and broken into bite-sized pieces before you start making the smoothie. Since this is a smoothie bowl, you’ll want it to be really thick and scoopable. If you let it sit while you make your cookie dough, it will start to thaw and will no longer be scoopable.
Use natural peanut butter to achieve the right texture. For the cookie dough, natural peanut butter should be used which means it has no added oil or sugar. The only ingredient in the peanut butter should be peanuts, and maybe salt. Natural oil will settle on the top of the peanut butter, so make sure you mix it in before measuring out your peanut butter for the cookie dough.
Don’t add too much milk. When you are making your smoothie, it may be difficult to blend with the 3 tablespoons listed for this recipe. So you may need to add a bit more milk, but make sure you add slowly, stopping to try blending between additional tablespoons. If you add too much milk, your smoothie bowl may be too thin and no longer a scoopable smoothie bowl.
Adjustments and substitutions
You can adjust the amount of almond flour. You can give the cookie dough your preferred texture by adding some more almond flour if you want the dough to be more firm.
Use any type of milk you like. When blending this smoothie bowl, I like to use oat milk, but you can use any type of milk you like. Not much is required to blend the smoothie bowl, so it shouldn’t affect the taste.
