Here is what you will need for this smoothie:
Frozen banana: Frozen banana will help you achieve a smooth and creamy texture for your smoothie.
Frozen blueberries and strawberry slices: Berries provide plenty of antioxidants and other nutrients. They should be frozen to achieve a thick texture.
Chia seeds: Chia seeds add plant-based protein, healthy fats, and more. They are a great addition, but not necessary to the taste and texture of the smoothie, so they could be omitted.
Oat milk or almond milk: These are my favorite plant-based milks for smoothies, however you could try a different milk that doesn’t have an overpowering taste.
Instructions
To make this smoothie, simply add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. If you need a bit more milk to get things blended, add some in slowly so that you don’t accidentally make it too thin.
If you don’t have your frozen fruit ready, you will need to freeze it first to achieve a smooth and creamy texture.
You should be able to find frozen blueberries and strawberry slices at a grocery store, which will be much easier. You can however freeze your own berries as well. If you are freezing your own fresh strawberries, make sure you slice them before freezing them.
Tips
Chop your banana for easier blending. This is especially helpful if you don’t have a high-powered blender. It like to peel and chop my bananas before freezing and I keep stocked up on frozen bananas so I am always ready to make a smoothie!
Add milk SLOWLY if needed. If you can’t get this smoothie blended with just one cup of plant-based milk, add a bit more and try blending again. Continue until the smoothie is completely blended. If you add too much milk your smoothie will get too thin, and I find a thick smoothie much nicer than a thin one.
Blend in the chia seeds for a smooth texture. Some people like to just mix chia seeds into a smoothie, but I much prefer blending them with everything else to achieve a smooth texture.
Adjustments and substitutions
I recommend oat milk or almond milk as plant-based milk options because they have fairly neutral flavors. If you want to try a different type of milk, I recommend something that doesn’t have a strong taste that will overpower the smoothie.
Chia seeds are a nutritious addition to this smoothie, but you may omit them or replace them with hemp seeds if desired.

I googled to find a smoothie recipe using frozen banana, blueberries, and strawberries and found this one. Just whipped it up in my Vitamix, and it's delicious! I did make a couple of small adjustments: Instead of one full Tbsp chia seeds, I added 1/2 Tbsp chia seeds, and 1/2 Tbsp hemp hearts (might trade hemp for flax seeds sometime, too). I also added one pitted medjool date, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. YUM! Thank you for sharing. 🙂
